; what we really need

As technology slowly takes over humanity, I think that we need to remember what we really need in life.

Why is it that the person online and the same person offline are two different beings?

Why is it that we can blame others for not standing up for others, yet we can’t do the same?

Why is it that we are so ‘courageous’ online, yet the moment we are offline, we turn into cowards?

I understand that we all want to show our best side to others. Yet isn’t this taking it too far?

What we really need is empathy.

We all need to learn to put ourselves in the shoes of others no matter how hard it may be.

Yes you may have been through a similar situation, yes you may know how the person may feel, but always remember that you are not them.

Everyone’s stress tolerance, personality, thought process and priorities are completely different.

One can never fully understand another because we’re all fundamentally different. However, the least we could do is empathise with others. Imagine what it would be like for you, if the exact same thing happened.

When someone you care about comes up to you looking troubled, ask them what’s wrong, and if they choose to tell you about it, lend them a listening ear. Don’t cut in, just listen. If they don’t want to speak up about it just yet, don’t push them either. They will let you know when they are ready.

Same thing online. Don’t trust everything you see on the media. So many people nowadays are so eager for gossips or dirt on others, that the moment they get a chance, they dive right in and start babbling non-stop. And then when things get cleared up as a misunderstanding, they start apologising without any sincerity.

What we really need is compassion.

The one thing that I don’t like on the internet is all the dangerous pranks that could get people in serious life-threatening situations.

But something I dislike even more than that, would be the comments.

It really left me in shock just seeing the number of people who actually found those pranks funny. It really makes me wonder if they actually consider anything.

Another thing I dislike about the internet is all the hate comments.

Like why?

Why would you want to waste a minute trying to think of something that could possibly hurt another person?

Hurting others doesn’t mean that your life is going to get any better. It could only get worse because it ruins people’s impression of you.

What we really need is love.

Because love spreads positivity. Because love spreads kindness.

I know it may be hard, but just try to imagine how the world would look like if everyone were kind to one another. A much better place am I right?

But I believe that if you want to make a change, that change has to start from within yourself.

If you sincerely wish for others to be kind, be kind to others.

In this day and age, we expect things to just happen without putting much effort. But if no one is going to put in effort, things will never change.

We all need to stop spreading negativity and start spreading positivity again.

Remember that words are powerful and impactful. It can lead someone out of the darkness, and it can also drive people into the darkness.

Warmest hugs,
